Many rich tycoon from mainland immigrate to Hong Kong

After Hong Kong return to China, it has a closer connection with mainland. Meanwhile the immigration policies applied on the residence of mainland China including: getting employed in Hong Kong, Capital Investment Entrant Scheme, admission scheme for mainland talents and professionals, Entrant Scheme for single permit holder.

Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (“Investment Immigration”) attracts the rich people from mainland most. The scheme has been highly praise by the rich people from mainland since it started in October 2003. Until end of 2013, Hong Kong Immigration Department received 35,719 applications and it has a total investment of  HKD167.3 billion in Hong Kong. Among those applications, 57.8% of which invested as request and were formally approved to residence in Hong Kong.

As the rich people from mainland China are enthusiasm in emigrating to Hong Kong, HKSAR changed its policy on Oct.14^th 2010 and raised its investment capital from HKD6.5 million to HKD10 million, and investing on real estate has been excluded from the qualified capital list, it has caused a big shock for the industry. Since Hong Kong return to China, it has a tightened its connection with mainland China.
